Packly ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the Packly mobile application.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information:

Photos: When you use the AI Scan feature, photos are captured and sent to OpenAI's API for item recognition. Photos are not stored on our servers.
Trip data: Your packing lists, item weights, and trip history are stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework.
Usage data: We may collect anonymized usage analytics to improve the app.

2. Camera Usage

Packly requests access to your device's camera solely for the AI Scan feature — to photograph items and estimate their weight. Camera access is only used when you explicitly initiate a scan. We do not record video or access your camera roll.

3. Third-Party Services

Packly uses the following third-party services:

OpenAI API: Photos taken during AI Scan are sent to OpenAI for processing. OpenAI's privacy policy applies to this data: openai.com/privacy

4. Data Storage

Your packing lists and trip history are stored locally on your device. We do not upload or store your personal packing data on external servers.

5. Data Retention

Data stored on your device is retained until you delete the app or manually remove trips within the app. Photos sent for AI scanning are processed in real time and not retained.

6. Children's Privacy

Packly is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the date at the top of this page.
